Our collection of falcons and owls live in their aviaries in the serenity of the courtyard of this gentilhommiere dating from the 1700s
Les Faucons du Périgord
We are situated in a little hamlet which offers the peace and quiet loved by so many visitors to this beautiful part of France, as well as being within an hour of so many interesting venues.
The Neolithic sites around Lascaux are always popular, as are wildlife spectacles such as the Eagle Rock at Rocamadour. The numerous chateaux and medieval towns are a constant source of discovery, set as they are amidst stunning river views.
The capital of the Dordogne, Perigueux, is only 25 mins away, where the impressive Byzantine Cathedral lies beside a maze of medieval streets and shops. To the south of the City, extensive Roman remains have been excavated, including a Villa, now beautifully displayed under cover. The many Gallo-Roman artefacts found here are to be seen in the fine Museum, where there is also a superb Prehistoric collection, including the world’s oldest complete Neanderthal skeleton (70,000 BC).
The medieval town of Excideuil with its impressive Chateau is just 10 mins away to the north, where the excellent local Thursday market is not to be missed.
